Welcome!

My name is Grace Johnson and I’m a Portland and traveling Photographer. I graduated from Oregon State with my BFA in Photography in 2024, and have moved to Portland since. I grew up as a competitive gymnast right outside the Seattle area. My career lasted 17 years, and included my time on the Oregon State gymnastics team until I medically retired due to three ACL tears. From there, I changed my major to a BFA in Photo and dedicated my time and energy towards the craft.

My athletic background fuels my passion for photographing athletes and sports, but more specifically, Women’s Basketball. I was the head Oregon State Women’s Basketball photographer for two years, capturing games, practices, travel, campaigning, media days and anything surrounding the team. Coming from a whole life of focusing on one sport, made photographing and learning about basketball exhilarating.

My work heavily surrounds my passion for lighting, expressive posing and highlighting inner confidence within my subjects. I enjoy mixing my love of fashion and sports to create artistic portraits that convey a variety of emotions.

I was chosen to take part in the Eddie Adams Workshop, class of XXXVII, which was a life-changing experience I will forever cherish.

Thank you for learning a bit about me, I’d love to connect.
